Came W/ Instructions & Daughter Loves ItJul 17, 2010 This product did come with instructions, which we followed, and it worked great. It works like an ipod FM transmitter. You need to find a FM frequency with static and it works. The A button is applause, the S button provides a beat and you need to hold down the M button while you sing/talk for your voice to work over the radio. Here's the instructions that came with it:
-In order to be able to play with the wireless microphone you will need to be able to find an open, unused FM radio station between 92 and 106 on your FM radio.
-It is best to turn your microphone on, then fine tune your radio (keep your radio volume rather high)and at the same time press the "M" button on the microphone so that you can keep testing to see if you can hear your voice coming through your radio speakers.
-You should use a radio that you can dial along the stations (instead of seek) so that you can find on that is not being used.
-Once you find the unused station you will be able to hear your voice or one of the sound effects from the microphone coming out of your radio.
This took me about two minutes to do and my daughter was having a blast with the microphone. I live in the Los Angeles area (lots of used radio stations!) and still did not have a problem finding an unused frequency (same as with my ipod transmitter). My daughter's voice comes through very clearly with no static once the M button is pushed. She doesn't need to stand close either...she's been dancing all around the living room.

More trouble than it's worthOct 14, 2009 This is just like the Donny & Marie microphone I had as a kid....like 30 years ago!!! It works about the same too...its very difficult for a 7 year old to get to work on her own and then doesnt' have the patience when I try to help her. My daughter was very disappointed! However it makes a nice expensive "prop" when playing dress up.

So sad!Feb 05, 2009 My daughter received this as a Xmas gift. It worked great in Wis, where there were avaliable radio stations. But when we arrived home in Houston, we couldn't use it. My daughter was very disappointed.

If you wanna Mic for your kidJan 17, 2009 This Mic is junk...even for $20. funny how folks said it was great, but then proceeded to tell you to stand close to the tuner...almost touching the antennae
Guess what, for ~$10 go to Radio Shack and buy a real mic if you have to stand in one place.
I love tinkering with things like this. Problem is after tinkering for an hour, reading reviews and taking suggestions, turning tiny potentiometers hiding the back of the mic....using my JVC tuner.....this thing is just pure junk. I am sure some got one that worked out of the box, and that is great for them, however, until the idiots that built this thing straighten things out, do yourself a favor and spend the $20 on a nice Cake.....with lotsa frosting and a pithy comment about yourself.....You'll feel so much better about the money you no longer have.
