Ugh, why did I buy this - what a bore for me. This is a book for young people I suppose. Not really worth one star but I feel kind today.

I can understand where the haters are coming from. And I think it boils down to this...
Stephenie Meyer was writing an epic love story for Bella and Edward. Breaking Dawn was their happy ending, with a few obstacles along the way. Usually you don't get to see the happy ending. I'm grateful to be able to see their happy ending. I thought Stephenie did a great job of connecting the dots, so to speak. Not just in this novel but between all of them. But I'm digressing...
My main point was that this above all else, is a love story. If you're reading it for the fantasy or the syfy or anything else, you're not going to "get" the last book or appreciate it.
As Stephenie stated herself, to anyone complaining about parts of it being too hard to believe...you're reading a series about vampires and werewolves! She can write whatever the heck she wants because the whole thing is hard to believe!
To those who complained about there being a baby at all and her lack of a maternal instinct and then all of a sudden she must have and love and protect this baby...maybe you'll get it once you're a mother. I honestly don't think even a father could completely understand this point of view. There's something about carrying your child, feeling her move inside you, that allows you to understand how Bella can go from no maternal side to being all about her baby.
Like I said earlier, Stephenie did a beautiful job of connecting everything. I can't remember it all now, but here are some examples I can think of: Foreshadowing the immortal children and the imprinting on a very young child, making sure Bella fully realized what she was giving up before choosing to become immortal, Siobhan's gift of getting what she wills and she was willing no fight with the Volturi, Bella's pregnancy automatically brings about the deadline of her transition without anymore discussion or argument about it, Bella's protectiveness over her child brings about her ability to control her shield and protect them all, the child's ability to harmoniously resolve the love triangle because of the imprinting, how Jacob couldn't fall for Leah because he'd never imprinted on her and wasn't the whole point for him to imprint at some point. Hmmm, there was more but I can't remember it all. I just thought she did a beautiful job.
To those who thought Edward turned weak, I say you're being ridiculous. Throughout the entire series his first priority has always been Bella's safety, phsyically and emotionally. He was watching Bella die in front of him due to the draining pregnancy. Who wouldn't react the way he did?! He came around once he could hear the baby and he saved Bella's life, kind of, haha.
I will say, while I LOVE this novel & the tone, the tone is quite different from the first 3, so it'll be interesting to see how they do the movies and how they divide it. And I really hope they are able to show parts of the novel that occur in people's minds. I mean, the fantastic ending where Bella shows Edward her memories of their relationship and how much she loves him. The movie won't be the same without that beautiful ending, and of course Reneesme's unique communication, even Zafira's gift. I can't wait to see how they capture it all and pray they do a good job since it's so hard to make the movies as good as the books.
I really really really really really really really hope Stephenie finishes Midnight Sun and even takes Edward's perspective all the way through to the end of the whole series. I love Midnight Sun, more than Twilight.
I also must say simply because of how I relate to it. I hated that she had to turn around and have Bella realize she was in fact in love with Jacob too. I understood why she had to do it. So that Bella would see her option to remain human and have the full life. But I have been where she was. Where you're in so much pain and someone comes along and is able to help you heal. I have loved someone and not been in love with them but needed them and that person fell in love with me and I didn't reciprocate it. And I've also been the person someone needed and I fell in love with them and they didn't reciprocate it. I've been on both sides and neither is easy. And both the book and the movie spoke to me as that's who Bella was as well. I can't help but feel like she wasn't in love with Jacob. But I understand it, and understand how it lead to them being a part of each other eventually through Reneesme.
Anyway, I loved this book the best and highly recommend it and just take into consideration whatever your perspective is going in.

This is a close second for my favorite book in the series. It does have its lulls in story but I do recommend a fan to read it and stick with it. It really is a great book.

Ok I see there have been over 5200 reviews on this book, sooo I will not even attempt to review. In the first place I buy books for the pure enjoyment of reading them, not reviewing them. I have read this book twice and have enjoyed both times, the only problem I have with Stephanie Meyers is that she is not (to my knowledge) working on a new project. I have also read The Host and throughly enjoyed that one too!!! I sincerely hope they will be making the scripts necessary to put this book on film, whether it be 1 or 2 movies. I feel this is only fair to the 100's of thousands of readers that have been waiting patiently. I am not a teenager or a middle aged person, I'm a grannie that believes in reading a book for pure enjoyment and that is exactly what these books have done for me.
